Scaling up Rural Youth Development

In the Ga-Mamabolo area of Limpopo Province, there is a particularly high rate of young people between 18 and 30 that have not got a matric certificate or have a very poor pass. Many youth drop out of school after grade 9 and 10. To try and address these issues Bjatladi Youth Development embarked on setting up volunteer-run Youth Development centres in a number of communities, supported by a village-based Youth Volunteer training and development programme. This learning brief follows the development of this programme and some of the learnings encountered on the way.
