Reflecting on the Network Action Group’s (NAG) model for building social capital in poor communities

Social capital, the network of connections among individuals, makes it possible for people to develop mutually beneficial collective action and is essential in lifting communities out of poverty and sparking public innovation. Working in the Ugu district, in southern KwaZulu-Natal, NAG attempts to build social capital through its future Leaders programme, and this learning brief shares and reflects on their model and its implementation.
